Custom Arrays

Equipment

OmniGrid 100 Printer

In order to assist users desiring to pursue a custom array approach to microarray analysis, the Facility has the capability to print DNA oligos, cDNAs or proteins onto various types of surface treated or membrane bound glass microscope slides.

Facility's printer is a Genomic Solutions (GeneMachines) OmniGrid 100 Printer/Arrayer capable of printing up to 100 slides in a run, with positions for 3 input sample plates, using TeleChem Stealth microarray spotting pins.

Perkin Elmer ScanArray Express

In order to provide nucleic acid or protein custom array based users with the means to scan their resulting microarray assays, the Facility has a Perkin Elmer ScanArray Express (GSI Lumonics ScanArray 4000) scanner for users to read their slides.

The Facility's ScanArray 4000 is configured with three enclosed HeNe lasers (Red, 632.8 nm; Green, 543.5 nm; Yellow, 594.0 nm), supporting up to 3-color applications and 12 different dyes. Users are taught how to use the scanner and then perform scanning and quantification of their own slides and resulting scans with the associated ScanArray and QuantArray software, respectively.
